Hi! I’m Ms. K!
Believe it or not, I didn’t exactly set out to do this. Other people started planting the idea for me!
For years, people in my everyday life and even guests at the trivia shows I host have told me how much I remind them of Ms. Rachel. Yes, there’s a physical resemblance, but it goes beyond that. My voice, inflection, enthusiasm and naturally bubbly way of talking and interacting with people are remarkably similar. People who meet me are also constantly convinced I must be a preschool teacher. (I’m not!)
Then one day, my friend’s 10-year-old son, Oliver, saw a picture of me and announced that I should be Ms. Rachel for Halloween because I looked just like her. When even the kids are noticing, you start to pay attention! And one of my favorite coincidences? Ms. Rachel and I are almost exactly the same age, born just a few months apart.
But the personality connection might make even more sense than the resemblance. In my everyday life, I own Sorted & Staged Decluttering and Home Staging Services and I also host trivia. Both give me plenty of opportunities to do what comes naturally to me: talk to people, encourage them, motivate them, celebrate their wins and cheer them on. I’ve been called everyone’s personal cheerleader more times than I can count, and if you know me, you already know I say “YAY!”… a LOT!
And that part of my personality definitely doesn’t stop with adults. I genuinely love interacting with little kids. I love their personalities and funny little conversations, being silly with them, encouraging them and seeing what happens when you really get down on their level and give them your full attention. Some kids jump right in and others need a little time. I enjoy meeting them wherever they are and letting the interaction happen naturally.
Eventually I started wondering what might happen if I took all of that natural enthusiasm, encouragement and interaction and created something especially for little ones.
And that’s how Can You Say YAY! with Ms. K came to be.
It takes inspiration from the fun, interactive style little ones already know and love, but what I bring is completely personal to me. I’m not trying to be Ms. Rachel. There’s no rigid performance or character script. I get to talk, play, sing, read, be silly and genuinely interact with your little one… which is exactly what makes this so much fun for me, too.
Turns out, maybe everyone was onto something after all.
Can you say YAY!?
